Artist Dyani White Hawk joins curator Laura Phipps for a conversation on Zoom.
Laura Phipps is an Associate Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art where she has recently organized Sixties Surreal (2025-26) and Mary Heilmann: Long Line (2025). In 2023, Phipps organized Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map, the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of the artist’s work and edited the accompanying catalogue. Phipps’ other projects at the Whitney include Around Day’s End: Downtown NYC 1970-1985, and Virginia Overton: Sculpture Gardens and projects with Andrea Fraser, Michele Abeles and the show Flatlands of emerging painters. She has served as a visiting lecturer and critic at the Institute of American Indian Art, Cornell University, University of the Arts, Philadelphia, University of Houston, and Artadia, among others.
